Q. Thato, what did you study to be a designer?
A. I did a diploma to be a Computer Graphic Artist, then followed that up with another diploma in Computer Graphic Development.

Q. How long have you been a designer, and what made you choose this path?
A. I have been a ceramic Graphic Designer for almost 5 and half years now. I’m not really sure there was one thing than brought me here. I have always been
artistic, ever since my childhood. I was good at it and I really enjoyed it. So, here I am.

Q. What trends in tile design and décor interest you the most?
A. Different effects on the tiles. For me, the more effects on one product, or design the better! I really like translucent tiles and encaustic décor tiles.

Q. What can you not live without?
A. My computer, no doubt about it!

Q. Who is your favourite designer and why?
A. Francis Roig was my ceramic design mentor and friend when I started in this industry. I found him to be hard-working, patient and good at what he did. That
was inspiring for me. Interestingly, he helped start up the South African division of Torrecid, who are a global leader in the ceramic and glass sector.
